Let’s be honest. Sometimes working with technology is hard and it is our goal here at CampaignSidekick to make the Sidekick user experience as easy and as awesome as possible.
We have found that a lot of the user experience begins and ends with your network speed, whether it is an LTE or Wi-Fi network. Many users don’t ever consider this, but using an app like ours requires a certain amount of speed and bandwidth.
So how do you know if you have optimal network speed to use CampaignSidekick’s app?
The best and easiest way to do this is use the Ookla Speed Test. We suggest all users also download the Ookla app to test on their individual devices. Your smart device may say “LTE,” but the speed, in reality, is short of what is needed to call through a VoIP phone system.
For door knocking scenarios, we suggest 5mbps download speed and 1mbps upload speed.
For call or phone banking scenarios, we suggest the following:
For just one caller, we suggest download speed of 10mbps, upload of 5mbps.
For 5 callers (or less) on the same wi-fi hotspot, we suggest 50mbps download and 20mbps upload.
For 10+ callers, we suggest a minimum of 100mbps download and 50mbps upload.
We are discovering many folks are working off speeds that are well short of that.
Other tips from the Sidekick team.
- Confirm that your users are turning off their apps and other speed sucks on their devices. We find the majority of them do not.
- Confirm that the universe of phone numbers you are attempting to dial have only higher quality numbers in targeted lists. Low quality phone numbers can impact the quality of the user experience.
- Manually check to make sure all devices are updated to their current operating systems. We find some users are 2-3 updates behind.
- Confirm Campaign Sidekick App is the newest version through Google Play or Itunes App Store.
So run through these few, simple steps and go have fun on the Sidekick app having a conversation with your neighbours and friends!
